Neopopulismus & Medialisierung

Der Übergang vom „klassischen“ Populismus zum gegenwärtigen Neopopulismus steht in einem unauftrennlichen Zusammenhang mit der fortschreitenden Medialisierung und Weitung des Raumes von Öffentlichkeit. Klassische Definitionen von Populismus betrachten vor allem sprachlich und nationalstaatlich eingegrenzte Diskursräume. Der jüngere Neopopulismus, der ohne die jüngeren Internetgenerationen und Meinungsplattformen kaum denkbar wäre (s. NEOVOX), gestaltet sich dagegen zunehmend als grenz- und sprachübergreifendes Phänomen, indem mehr als eine nationale Öffentlichkeit angesprochen wird.
